We share this almost insane awkwardness around branding photos. Naturally confident and successful business leaders can be reduced to nervous wrecks when confronted with a camera. It does seem crazy but know that you arent alone. And also know that, if you are a woman being photographed, you are going to feel more critical and uncomfortable because we are still so heavily judged and valued in how we look rather than what we have to say. And so I understand you. I understand your pain and challenges around photos and photo use online. I can help you and I will.
I struggled myself but simply jumped in and ‘got on with it’ during lockdown. Know that to start with, though, I found fault with every brand image that I made of myself. And I felt like tearing down every post online that featured an image of me. I would wait. Get on with another piece of work. Go back and look at the photo, again and again, and then finally just take the banding photo down!
Until I stopped. Stopped scrutinising myself unfairly. Stopped photo obsessing. Got real and decided it really didn't matter that much. And so I left those photos out there to ‘work’ for me and guess what? They did just that!
People really don’t care about how you look in your brand photos as long as it’s a good photo, made well and you look professional.
The only person who cares about how you look (beauty-wise) is you. And this is good because once you realise and accept this, you relax in to the process and then using photos regularly is just EASY!
Also many business leaders either don’t understand the significance of personal brand images; what they do for your business or they disregard them because it’s just way too much effort. Too much to consider ?
