Branding Photographer Brighton

Personal Brand Photographer Brighton

I joined a new networking group and considered how it would open up my horizons; the kinds of places it would potentially take me and the connections I would make? I wanted to shoot more in London. I ended up shooting more in London and Brighton! The Athena network actually transported me, as a branding photographer, to shoot personal branding photography in Brighton. I had resisted for many years in joining an online networking group. I just didn't like the idea of being sat awkwardly in a virtual box waiting my moment to speak. And so finally and grudgingly I joined Athena, St Pauls, The City. I could not have been more wrong! I now have grown to love online networking. It works. You meet incredible and interesting business leaders from all over the world. You build new friendships. It brings amazing clients that you might never usually meet. Athena introduced me to Helen Beckingham and she commissioned me as her personal brand photographer Brighton. It was brilliant to shoot branding photography in Brighton with Helen.

  • Quite quickly I was asked to prepare an online 10 minute business development talk for delivery to my new group. This filled me with abject horror but at the same I knew I had to grab the thing. Just do it! It was during this nerve wrecking online presentation, to a group of probably only 15 ladies, that my opportunity came to shoot in Brighton. To become a branding photographer Brighton. To shoot for a copywriter seeking someone to visualise her business through branding photographs. And so through this presentation I met Helen.

Helen was coincidentally visiting from another group and just liked what I had to say. She, in particular, liked the part of my presentation whereby I illustrated a number of different and diverse client's images and asked my audience, 'so what do you see?' This is a great way to prompt a virtual room to grasp a simple concept by describing simple visual things/symbols. My marketing lecturer used to say this to me,  to my group, when he wanted us all to articulate and dissect component parts of adverts and symbols. To dissect visual meaning as part of learning denotation and connotation. To see and to know what is actually in the image physically and what we assume by seeing it?

And so, Helen and I, we shared a 121 following the meeting and we structured a brief for Helens Brighton shoot. A branding shoot which included office and playful fluidity.

Helen had an entertaining personality. She was as visually expressive in her facial movements and personality as her copy was in engaging for her clients. When I realised this I made sure we really capitalised on it by making unusual maverick expressions that other business leaders might feel afraid to attempt. We really visualised this.

Then we ‘got creative’ with Brighton centre itself. We took parts of Brighton, more commonly known, and we made a  seaside resort visually speak 'business'. Helen even ‘worked’ in a deckchair, beachside at Hove. By holding a laptop we make a fun, charismatic image and statement, but still retain business content.

Expressions are key if you want to grow an audience and make far richer connections online. We made a huge number of different natural and arresting expressions that Helen could match text to. Branding images that could be rested and repeated, over and over for social media so that her clients will grow to know her better, trust her visually. This resulting in new business opportunities for her.
